workplace intervention

Helping organisations build safer, healthier, and more productive workplaces.

Substance use challenges in the workplace affect productivity, safety, team morale, and overall organisational wellbeing. SANCA National partners with employers, HR teams, and management structures to design and implement proactive workplace substance use strategies that meet national guidelines, protect employees, and strengthen organisational performance.

Our support is practical, compliant, and grounded in decades of experience in

substance use prevention and intervention across South Africa.

Why Workplace Support Matters

Substance use problems rarely stay outside the office. Early identification, fair processes, and supportive pathways protect both employees and the business.

SANCA helps organisations create environments where:

  • Employees are safe and supported

  • Supervisors respond confidently and consistently

  • Policies are clear, fair, and enforceable

  • Productivity and morale are safeguarded

  • Risk is reduced before incidents occur

  •

Whether you need to update your policies, train your staff, or develop a full intervention and support plan, SANCA’s national expertise ensures your workplace is prepared.

WELLNESS DAYS

Wellness Days are an essential part of SANCA’s preventative mission — they not only raise awareness but also help build a culture of health, early intervention, and self-reflection.

What is this service?

SANCA National’s Wellness Days are on-site outreach events that bring substance use awareness, prevention, and support services directly to workplaces, campuses, and communities. These events include educational exhibitions, expert-led talks, and voluntary screening and referral services.

Why this service matters

Substance misuse can impact every aspect of personal and professional life — yet many individuals may not realise they’re at risk or where to seek help. Wellness Days break the silence, reduce stigma, and provide accessible, proactive support. They offer a powerful opportunity to engage individuals where they are, in a non-threatening and empowering environment.

What this service offers

  • Educational Exhibitions

Eye-catching and informative displays that explore the effects, myths, and realities of substance use. These exhibitions spark curiosity and conversation, making learning approachable and memorable.

  • Wellness Talks

Expert-led presentations tailored to each audience — whether employees, students, or the public. These sessions cover responsible choices, managing stress, mental health, and the social and personal impact of substance misuse.

  • SBIRT (Screening, Brief Intervention, and Referral to Treatment)

Confidential, evidence-based screening tools help identify early signs of risky substance use. Brief, personalised counselling is offered, and where needed, individuals are referred to treatment services for further support. SBIRT empowers people with insights into their own behaviour — before problems escalate.
