AFTERCARE
Then aftercare is provided to individuals after long-term treatment, also called maintenance for relapse prevention and support services, over 12 months. The program will integrate service users with available skills development as well external service providers. The programme is called New Beginnings and is a group work programme.
The Ripples support group programme is designed to train lay counsellors or recovery coaches to establish and run aftercare support groups as clients are experiencing barriers to attending aftercare sessions at the service points. TIME significant other/Family support groups for adolescents and adults are available to be implemented by the social workers.
Assistance and partnership with Narcotic Anonymous (NA) and Alcohol Anonymous (AA) can assist to also establish self-help groups to provide more support.
TADS as well as all SANCA's preventive and treatment strategies are centered on demand and harm reduction, the organization supports the WHO's five Best Buys to Reduce Alcohol and Drug Harms strategy. By enhancing the protective factors for children at risk, demand reduction is thought to delay the start of children experimenting with or using substances. Standardized prevention and treatment programmes are offered to reduce and prevent the harmful effects of substances on children, adolescents, youth and adults in all communities where SANCA services are accessible, and programmes includes:

All the prevention and treatment programmes are evidence-based and international prevention and treatment principles are worked in to ensure effective and quality services.
